Laurie Goldheim's firm is dedicated exclusively to the practice of adoption law. Laurie has been helping couples and individuals build their families and realize their dreams through adoption for over 15 years. Laurie has assisted over 1,500 families in achieving their adoption goals over the years.
Laurie specializes in all types of adoptions including private domestic adoptions, agency assisted adoptions and finalizations, and finalizations of international adoption placements. In addition, she routinely represents people in adult adoptions, second parent adoptions, step-parent adoptions, foster care adoptions, and re-adoptions of international adoptions that finalized outside of the United States. Laurie's clients include married couples, single men and women, and same-sex couples. Laurie also represents birth parents in her adoption practice.
Laurie received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her law degree from Boston University School of Law. She is an active member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys (www.adoptionattorneys.org). Membership in the AAAA is by invitation only based on criteria for excellence in the practice of adoption law. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Rockland County Bar Association. Laurie conducts adoption seminars and presentations for numerous organizations and families and is a guest lecturer at the Practicing Law Institute's Adoption Law Institute.
In October, 2007, Laurie was honored by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (www.ccainstitute.org) as a 2007 Angel in Adoption. The Angels in Adoption Program is CCAI's signature public awareness program and provides an opportunity to all members of the U.S. Congress to honor the work of their constituents who have enriched the lives of children through adoption. Laurie was nominated by Congresswoman Nita Lowey for her outstanding example and commitment to promoting adoption.
